2013 Spirit of Entrepreneurship™ Awards
May 10, 2013
Fess Parker's DoubleTree Resort
6 - 9 p.m.

The Spirit of Entrepreneurship Awards™ are designed to recognize the contributions of women entrepreneurs in Santa Barbara County to the economy as well as to support future economic growth through the recognition, financial support (in the form of seed capital) and education of student entrepreneurs.

In 2013 we were excited to have Lynda Weinman, co-founder/executive chair of lynda.com and an amazing role model, as the MC for our third annual event. We honored eight women in the Santa Barbara community who have shown entrepreneurial success. Nominations were open to any woman business owner in Santa Barbara County.

The winners are pictured below and you can learn more about them by clicking here.

The Spirit of Entrepreneurship™ Awards Dinner is held in conjunction with the Scheinfeld Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Santa Barbara City College. The Scheinfeld Center holds the New Venture Challenge, a one-day business pitch competition, a week before the Spirit of Entrepreneurship™ Awards where judges select the four student winners (or teams of winners) at both the high school level and collegiate level. The Foundation provides the winners with cash prizes to support their winning business plan. All the winning students and their parents and/or teachers attend the Awards dinner as guests of the Spirit of Entrepreneurship™ Foundation. Learn more about the student winners here.

The Spirit of Entrepreneurship™ Awards is the main focus of the Spirit of Entrepreneurship™ Foundation, a 501(c)3 corporation. The Awards Dinner fulfills the Foundation's goal of supporting and encouraging entrepreneurship at all levels in our communities.

Proceeds from the event, which is hosted by the Foundation, go toward underwriting the awards dinner and funding student prizes through the Scheinfeld Center for the 2014 event. Special thanks to Montecito Bank & Trust and lynda.com for helping to underwriting student awards for the 2013 Spirit of Entrepreneurship™ Awards, where a total of $10,000 of cash prizes were given to the winning students.
