About the Spirit of Entrepreneurship™ Foundation

The mission of the Spirit of Entrepreneurship™ Foundation, a 501(c)3 corporation, is to support entrepreneurship at all levels in our area. This is accomplished by honoring successful women entrepreneurs at a yearly event, the Spirit of Entrepreneurship™ Awards, for the benefit of high school and collegiate student entrepreneurs. The student entrepreneurs, who have won the New Venture Challenge, a one-day business pitch competition put on by the Scheinfeld Center of Entrepreneurship at Santa Barbara City College, are awarded financial support (in the form of seed capital) and scholarships at our Spirit of Entrepreneurship™ Awards to help them to develop their aspiring businesses and continue their education. These Awards allow the Foundation to fulfill its goal of encouraging future economic growth in the County.

The student winners and their parents/partners/teacher attend the Spirit of Entrepreneurship™ Awards as the Foundation's guests where they are recognized and receive their checks. Since 2011, the Foundation raised more than $55,000 for the New Venture Challenge collegiate and the high school winners.

We measure the success of our event by the success of the winning entrepreneurs. Of the 55 winning women entrepreneurs, almost all have expanded, started and/or sold their businesses since receiving their Spirit of Entrepreneurship™ Awards. The top winner at the collegiate level in 2012 is now head of his company that is valued at over $2,000,000.
